There is no October meeting because GSAS is hosting the All-Aquarium Catfish Convention October 9-11 near the Sea-Tac airport. Read our convention page for full details on the seven amazing speakers, banquet, field trip, shirts and yes, the return of the pub glass!
If you have not registered, but want to drop by and visit on Friday or Saturday, the Vendor Room will be free! (Registration is required for the other functions, including the talks.)
Sunday October 11th will be a huge plant and fish (mostly) auction, just like our usual big auctions, at the convention location in Southcenter starting at 9AM. All are welcome to attend and bid at the auction (but in order to sell, you must be a registered for the convention).

We are privileged to have guest speaker Sam Fernald opening our fall season!
Samuel Joseph Fernald is a lifelong aquarist from Down East, Maine. After many trips to Southeast Asia, he developed a passion for the Gastromyzontidae “Hillstream Loaches” and several other obscure lineages of freshwater fish. A former COVID-era epidemiologist, he also devotes some free time to consulting on a variety of public health topics.
Seizing an opportunity to enter the aquarium industry’s import business through importing Asian native fish, Sam and his business partners in Guangxi founded Hillstream Kingdom LLC in 2023; an import warehouse utilizing a network of friends and hunters from Myanmar to Papua––paying them fairly in USD to ethically source the rarest loaches, medakas and rainbowfish offered for sale in America.
After the presentation on Saturday, stay for our Monthly Auction after (sellers, pre-register your stuff here).
In addition, Sam will be speaking at a small bonus gathering on the night before -- Friday September 11th at Romeo's Pizza in Edmonds. Sam will speak on fish diversity of Sahul - Australasia! Order some food and hang with the speaker at 6 PM, talk begins promptly at 7.

Our big auctions still remain the primary source of income from the club, and their success means we can pay our rent and Internet video storage bills, bring in top quality speakers, and have nice prizes in our contests throughout the year. Thanks again!
